Abstract
Polarisation independent 1 × 4 and 1 × 16 phased-array wavelength demultiplexers are demonstrated using 1.1 µm quaternary ridge waveguides. The 1 × 16 device exhibits an average crosstalk of 14 dB for 2 nm channel spacing and 1.6 × 1.7 mm2 device size (with output guides), which is the smallest size reported to date. Moreover, zero birefringence is obtained at ~1.53 µm.Keywords
