Abstract
We have detected and identified charged particles with an energy of more than 0.5 MeV that were emitted by a carbon target following the absorption of stopped negative pions. Particles of mass 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and 7 were found. The energy spectrum of the particles was measured from 0.5 to 30 MeV. The rate for the emission of integrated over all energies above 0.5 MeV was found to be 1.00 ± 0.07 .
