Abstract
Determinations of blood catecholamine levels were carried out in 30 patients under halothane anaesthesia, before and 5 min after the administration of pancuronium bromide. Both adrenaline and especially noradrenaline were found to be augmented after drug injection. The changes were statistically significant: adrenaline, from 3.00 μg/1 ± 0.21 to 3.60 ± 0.20 (P< 0.05), and noradrenaline, from 4.00 μg/1 ± 0.40 to 6.50 ± 0.61 (P< 0.01). These findings reveal a stimulation of sympathetic nervous activity. This effect may explain, partly at least, the slight rise in blood pressure and pulse rate after pancuronium bromide administration.ZUSAMMENFASSUNG: Bei 30 Patienten wurden unter Halothannarkose die Katecholamin‐Konzentrationen im Blut bestimmt, und zwar vor bzw. Keywords
