Tape Conductor Fabrication Processes for High-Tc Ba2YCu3O7-y

Abstract
Tape conductors of Ba2YCu3O7-y were successfully prepared by a new surface-reaction technique of a Cu-electroplated Ag tape was coated with a fine mixture of BaCO3 and Y2O3 and heat-treated to form superconducting Ba2YCu3O7-y . A zero-resistance state was achieved at temperatures above liquid nitrogen temperature. A critical current density of about 40 A/cm2 was obtained at 77 K in zero magnetic field.
