Abstract
It is shown that a rigorous theorem on the impossibility of obtaining a stable hadron mass spectrum from unitary representations of Lie groups due to Jost and Segal can be generalized to the case of (nonuniformly) bounded group representations. The only link with unitarity that need be retained is the assumption that the mass-squared operator is self-adjoint.Keywords
