Charge screening and mass spectrum

Abstract
A general connection between the existence of charge sectors and the mass spectrum is established in Abelian gauge theories in a space-time of dimension larger than two. The exceptional role of two-dimensional space-time is related to Coleman's "quantum soliton."Keywords
