Abstract
DURING a remission of acute leukemia in children induced by one of the chemotherapeutic agents the bone marrow may return temporarily to a normal morphologic state. Thus, the question arises whether in some cases the marrow may provide an acceptable source of autologous material for subsequent use as a marrow autograft.1 It has been reported that the infusion of autologous marrow in animals2 3 4 and isologous marrow in man,5 after potentially lethal doses of radiation or chemotherapeutic agents,6 can protect against their otherwise lethal effects by restoring the marrow cell population.
