Abstract
The rigorous resonance Raman effect was observed for the octahedral PtBr and PtI ions. The enhancement of the Raman intensity occurred for the totally symmetric ν1 band and for the non‐totally symmetric ν2 band simultaneously in both cases of the two ions. The overtone bands of ν2 appeared in the spectra in addition to the ordinary long overtone progression of the ν2 vibration. The results are discussed in relation to the two closely lying electronic levels of the ions. Keywords
