Abstract
Out of 20 cases of Friedreich''s ataxia seen at Maudsley Hospital, the 4 reported here had marked mental symptoms characterized by paranoid feelings and outbursts of excitement, in addition to depressive and confusional states. The association with epilepsy is discussed and abnormal electro-encephalogram findings are recorded which may account for some features of the symptomatology in certain of these cases.
