Abstract
Using Burstone's (1958) alkaline phosphatase staining method, the efferent nervous system in the inner ear of guinea pigs was histochemically demonstrated in surface preparation and sectioned specimens. The findings were essentially similar to those of efferent innervation described by previous authors who used an acetylcholinesterase staining technique. The significance of alkaline phosphatase in the nervous system is briefly discussed.Keywords
