Abstract
In 13 of 140 [human] recruits examined (9.3%), Acanthamoeba spp. were identified in smears of the nasal mucosa. From 20 isolated strains of amoebae the species determined were A. castellanii (42.2%), A. polyphaga (31.5%), A. palestinensis (26.3%) and A. astronyxis (5.3%). The persons contaminated with amoebae were in good health at the time of sampling. Apparently, an aerogenic contamination took place. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
