Abstract
The results of 115 selective leucotomies are presented. Orbital leucotomy and cingulectomy were the operations performed. The first procedure was used in cases of affective disorders, psychoneurosis, psychotic illnesses and psychopathic states and the second in cases of psychoneurotic illness. The complications and personality and other changes which follow all limited procedures on the frontal lobe are emphasized. Until, however, another procedure is proved more effective, selective leucotomy is the method of choice in relieving intractable mental suffering. Keywords
