Abstract
Expressions for the third‐order elastic (TOE) constants are derived from the Lundqvist potential for the non‐centrosymmetric solids crystallizing in the fluorite structure. The values of the TOE constants determined from these expressions agree fairly well with the measured values for CaF2, SrF2, and BaF2 and show significant improvements over the values obtained in other theoretical studies. Keywords
