Note on Control for Intelligence in Studies of Field Dependence with Young Children

Abstract
96 children from 6 Head Start Centers, between 4 yr., 10 mo. and 6 yr., 2 mo. of age were administered the rod-and-frame and the Lorge-Thorndike Intelligence Test. φ coefficients indicated that there was no relationship between intelligence and rod-and-frame scores for males and females separately or combined. It should not be necessary to control for effects of general intelligence in studies of field dependence with young Ss.
