Abstract
The effective mass of a quasi-two-dimensional electron space-charge layer on GaAs has been studied in a plasmon-resonance experiment for magnetic fields applied in the plane of the layer. An anisotropy of the effective mass induced by the parallel magnetic field is observed. For the in-plane direction perpendicular to the magnetic field the mass increases with its reciprocal depending quadratically on the magnetic field strength. Keywords
