Abstract
Electron spin resonance (ESR) and optical absorption spectra have been studied in Ti- and V-doped CuAlS2crystals, grown by the chemical vapour transport technique. Identification of the ESR centers as being due to Ti3+and V3+has been confirmed by the observation of hyperfine structures arising from hyperfine interaction with four second-shell27Al nuclei (titanium-case) and with the nuclear magnetic moment of51V (vanadium case). The results obtained show that both Ti and V in CuAlS2are trivalent, with Ti3+ions substituting for Al3+-sites and V3+ions substituting for Cu+-sites.Keywords
