Abstract
In 1990, the fuzzy boom started in Germany. At universities, research institutes and in the manufacturing industry, fuzzy control was pursued seriously. We strongly believe that fuzzy control is not a passing fashion but a promising new branch of control engineering which can improve existing solutions and open up new fields of applications. The fuzzy approach stimulates the solution of complicated control problems with the help of experts, who know the process excellently but do not have deep knowledge in the field of system theory. The result is not “fuzzy”, but a precise controller operating on the basis of fuzzy knowledge Author(s) Kiendl, H. Fac. of Electr. Eng., Dortmund Univ., Germany Krabs, M. ; Scheel, T.Keywords
