Abstract
The iterative procedure for the determination of potential energy functions directly from gas transport coefficients, which has previously been justified by heuristic arguments, is shown to have a sound theoretical basis. The physical basis of the method is given and an iterative inversion scheme shown to emerge naturally from the relevant kinetic theory expressions. Conditions for the inversion to converge on a unique, correct solution are discussed. Keywords
