Abstract
THE occurrence of syncope associated with micturition in healthy males is an event that until recently was not widely recognized in medical circles. Before the article by Proudfit and Forteza1 there were no detailed reports in the literature. Gastaut,2 in discussing a series of 200 cases of nocturnal loss of consciousness, mentioned 40 cases of syncope occurring before, during or after micturition. Treires,3 in 1957, referred to a single case of micturition syncope. In a series of 82 cases of syncope in healthy young males, Dermksian and Lamb4 noted 4 associated with voiding.
