Abstract
Photoelectron spectroscopy of glassy , , , and alloys reveal a common band of the two alloy constituents with a large shift of the metal states to higher, and a shift of the metal states to lower binding energies relative to the corresponding pure metal. The charge transferred from the to metal on alloying is quite small and results in a small (positive and negative) binding-energy shift of the core electrons of the metal.
