Abstract
THE liver plays an important role in the metabolism of carbohydrates. Clinical investigators have frequently reported observations of disturbed carbohydrate metabolism in the presence of liver disease,1 2 3 4 5 6 and numerous studies have been made of the metabolic alterations found in experimental animals with liver damage induced either by toxic agents or by partial or total hepatectomy.7 8 9 The possibility that alteration of liver function enters into the production of the diabetic syndrome has been considered by many authors, and several reports have been published that emphasize the possible role of the liver in the etiology and pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus in human . . .Keywords
