Abstract
Speaking fundamental frequency and frequency distribution was studied in 18 females ages 30 to 50-year old. Women between the ages of 30 and 40 years (n = 9) had an average speaking frequency of 196.34 Hz while the women aged 40 to 50-year-old (n = 9) had an average speaking frequency of 188.58 Hz. The group mean for the 18 women was 192.47 Hz. Frequency deviations were 1.23, 1.38, and 1.30 tones respectively. Results are discussed relative to speaking fundamental frequency for other age groups of females and the trend for speaking fundamental frequency to decrease during the mid-ages is noted. Keywords
