Abstract
The hyperfine-structure separation in the electronic ground state has been measured for two radioactive gold isotopes, 3-h and 17.5-h . Atomic-beam methods, after confirming that both nuclear spins are , have provided hfs separations of Mc/sec and Mc/sec. Combined with recent work on , these values give uncorrected nuclear-magnetic dipole moments of nm, and nm. Both measurements are consistent with the assignment of the unpaired proton in gold to a shell-model level.
