Abstract
Franck‐Condon factors, for transitions connecting the ν′ = 3 and ν′ = 4 vibrational levels of the B 3Σu− state of S2 to the ground X 3Σg− state, have been measured using selective excitation of resonance fluorescence. Observation of all ν″ terms for each ν′ allows a determination of the Franck‐Condon factors without arbitrary normalization. Comparison of our results with theoretical predictions shows disagreement; this is not unexpected due to the extensive perturbations in the B state. Keywords
