Zur Ultrastruktur des Plattenepithelkarzinoms der Portio

Abstract
Comparison of the results of electronmicroscopic examinations of the undifferentiated squamous cancer of the cervix with those of carcinoma in situ and the normal squamous epithelium. It follows that the variations of the cytoplasmatic and nuclear elements in cancer can be explained as the expression of an increased growth tendency which, however, does not allow any conclusions as to the specific morphological signs of malignant degeneration. In addition, the special structure of the electronic-optic basal membrane "Tragermembran" and its role in connection with the invasive growth of cancer are discussed. Our ideas about the epithelium-stroma relationship in invasive growth, the so-called "penetration of the basal membrane" need critical revaluation.
