Assessing Ureteral Wound Healing by Pressure Flow Technique

Abstract
Bilateral ureteral anastomoses were performed on dogs with either chronic catgut, polyglycolic acid (PGA), polyglactin 901 or polypropylene suture. The infusion pressure technique of Whitaker was employed at 4 and 7 mo. after operation to assess ureteral function. The pressure flow data indicated that ureteral function was best when PGA sutures were used to accomplish the anastomosis. Apparently, the infusion pressure technique is useful in evaluating ureteral wound healing.
