Abstract
A recent publication presented angular distributions for 180-MeV pion inelastic scattering for several N∼28 nuclei. Proton E2 matrix elements extracted from those data for certain states were systematically larger than those inferred from γ decay. A possible explanation for these anomalies is discussed. Keywords
