Abstract
The sugar content of nectars was measured by refractometry and glucose (G) and fructose (F) by paper chromatography followed by reducing sugar detns. on eluates. Sugar content varied with time of collection with values of 10-45%. Ratios F/G and total/F and G were: Sinapis alba, 088, 0.98: Rubus fructicoaus, 1.00, 1.47; R. loganbaccus, 1.00, 1.00; Trifolium repens, 1.19, 1.50: T. pratense, 3.44, 2.68; Tilia hybrid, 1.01, 1.98; Chamaenerion angustifolium, 1.49, 1.49; Borago officinalis, 0.94, 2.34; Lavandula spica, 1.39, 4.63; Pycnanthemum pilosum, 19.84, 2.76; and Hedera helix, 0.32, 1.02.Keywords
