Neutron richGa73andAs79isotopes via the (α,p) reaction

Abstract
The (α,p) reaction at 26 MeV has been used to study Ga73 and As79 with 12 keV resolution full width at half maximum. The reaction behaves like a simple proton stripping ("spectator" zero coupled neutron pair) and the characteristic shapes of the angular distributions permit assigning new spins and parities. In Ga73: 198 keV(52), 1116 keV(12), 1494 keV(92+). In As79: g.s.(32), 233 keV(52), 499 keV(12), 777 keV(92+), 1806 keV(92+), 1891 keV(12), 1964 keV(92+). The observed splitting of the Jπ=32 strength in Ga73, important as compared to the one observed in Ga71, is attributed to a change of structure between N=40 and 42.
