Abstract
Fundamentals of the physics of continuous-wave gas ring lasers, summarized in the preceding paper, are used to establish a model of mode coupling in the limit of low excitation. It predicts a steady state with each traveling wave composed of radiation at two frequencies, both displaced by the coupling from the cavity resonant frequency. Inter- and intrawave instantaneous and time-average beat frequencies are computed. Keywords
