Abstract
The complete matrices of the spin‐orbit interaction for the d4, d6 configurations are given in a strong cubic field scheme. Intermediate coupling calculations have been carried out for the energy levels of K3IrCl6, and lead to a satisfactory interpretation of the observed optical spectrum. Keywords
