Abstract
SUMMARY: 1. Some tissues of intact, adrenalectomized, or hypophysectomized male and female rats treated with methylandrostenediol (MAD) grow isometrically with the body as a whole. Others gain weight and protein at a faster rate and yet others lose weight, although the animal as a whole grows. 2. The response of each tissue varies with the dose of MAD and the age of the rat. Some tissues lose weight with low doses of MAD but gain weight with high doses. Keywords
