Abstract
In 4 children (age 4 yrs.) with the nephrotic syndrome, the urea clearance was found to vary markedly with the protein intake. Protein intakes of 0.5, 1, 2, 3, and 4 gms. per kilo per day were accompanied by av. urea clearances of 73. 88, 178, 184, and 216% of mean normal, respectively. Administration of urea by mouth caused no comparable increase in the urea clearances.
