Abstract
Excavations were conducted with the purpose of exploring the south end of Compound A, and the compound-like enclosure which lies southeast of the Casa Grande. Besides extensive evidence of earlier archaeological and stabilization excavations, a series of house floors and associated posts, walls and hearths were found in Compound A. Some information was obtained concerning wall construction of the Casa Grande and nearby plaza areas. The architectural remains combined with a uniform ceramic distribution leads to the conclusion that the massive-walled multi-storied building was a trait acquired from the south and not from the north as was previously thought.
