Abstract
The dependence on the interparticle potential of the spinodal line of a model binary mixture of simple fluids is studied making use of the hypernetted‐chain equation. The behavior of the isothermal and osmotic compressibilities in the approach to the unstable region is also investigated. According to the results the mixture can exhibit a liquid–gas as well as a consolute phase transition. Keywords
