Approximate Compressibilities of Elements on the Statistical Model

Abstract

A semiempirical correction to the pressure in the Thomas-Fermi statistical model is suggested on the basis of the Dirac modification. The resulting functional relation between scaled compressibility and volume is compared with experiment.
