Abstract
The authors discuss the linearization of the equations of motion around a periodic orbit in a conservative two degree of freedom Hamiltonian system, with an emphasis on computationally useful formulae. Indices are defined using singularities in projections. Conjugate points, self-conjugate points and the possibility of assigning a symbolic code are discussed. Keywords
