Abstract
A metabolite of pamaquine obtained from the tissues and droppings of treated chickens has in vitro anti-malarial and methemoglobin-producing properties which are approx. 16-fold those of pamaquine. The latter properties and also the u.-v. absorption spectra are strikingly similar to those of synthetic 8-amino-5,6-quinolinequinone, and an 8-aminoquino-linequinone obtained by the oxidative irradiation of pamaquine with u.-v. light. Keywords
