Migration and mental illness

Abstract
Migration and mental illness seem to be associated under certain conditions. Two types of migration were analysed. One type involved the immigrant; it was found that the foreign-born have lower admission rates to Ohio public mental hospitals than do native-born. The 2nd type involved the native-born moving from their state of birth to another state (Ohio) compared to residents of Ohio who had been born there. It was found that the native-born migrant has a higher admission rate than the resident of the state of birth. Several explanations were presented.
