Structure of the lipopolysaccharide O-antigen of Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) pleuropneumoniae serotype 6 (ATCC 33590)

Abstract
One- and two-dimensional high resolution 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy at 500 MHz and 125 MHz together with methylation and partial hydrolytic degradation methods were used to determine the structure of the antigenic O-polysaccharide produced by Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) pleuropneumoniae serotype 6 (ATCC 33590). The O-polysaccharide was shown to be a high molecular weight unbranched linear polymer of repeating pentasaccharide units having the structure: .Keywords: Actinobacilluspleuropneumoniae, lipopolysaccharide, O-antigen, nuclear magnetic resonance.
