Abstract
Removal of the pituitary gland was shown to cause a significant decrease in the concentration of amylase activity and in the total amylase activity of the rat pancreas. Fasting 5-6 days and undernutrition significantly reduced the total pancreatic amylolytic activity. Amylase activity per unit of body weight was not significantly reduced by undernutrition but was reduced by 5-6 days fasting. Effect of hypophysectomy was more marked than that produced by restricted food intake. Keywords
