Abstract
We show that, near the consolute critical point of a binary mixture, thermodiffusion (kT), as well as baro‐ and electrodiffusion, should diverge like the isothermal osmotic compressibility. This is a stronger divergence than expected according to earlier predictions, and seems to be borne out by experiment. A few hydrodynamical consequences are discussed. Keywords
