Structural phase transition and superconducting properties ofTh3P4-type La chalcogenides

Abstract
We report measurements of the electrical resistivity and the specific heat at the structural transition and in the superconducting state at low temperatures for samples with composition La3x S4, La3x Se4, and La3 Te4. The results show that the structural transition and the anomalous superconducting properties of La3 S4 and La3 Se4 are due to a band-structure anomaly at the Fermi level.
