Abstract
Extensive measurements have been made on the optical properties of two gold-dielectric composite systems which exhibit distinctly different topologies. The agreement between optical data, topological observation, and simple composite media theories demonstrates the dominant effect of topology in determining the optical response of heterogeneous materials. Keywords
