Abstract
A method for the dosimetry of X-rays in the range 8-35 Mv is suggested. The method is based on the idea that ionization chambers of the type metioned in the title may be regarded as Bragg-Gray cavities in this energy range. Standard stopping power data may then be used at any other radiation quality to calculate their sensitivities relative to 2 Mv; sensitivity at 2 mV may be determined in terms of the 2 Mv roentgen standard. Some experimental evidence to justify the use of these chambers as Bragg-Gray cavities is presented. The accuracy of the method is limited by lack of experimental information about stopping power data, but it is suggested that it offers at least the possibility of developing a self-consistent basis for dosimetry, pending the arrival of more adequate data. This publication has 10 references indexed in Scilit:
