Abstract
LOWER-NEPHRON nephrosis following exposure to carbon tetrachloride is a well established and fairly common entity.1 2 3 4 5 6 Such a case was recently seen at the United States Public Health Service Hospital at Boston. The patient developed some uncommon findings, consisting of an early excellent urine specific gravity, an extreme elevation of the nonprotein nitrogen, a hemorrhagic pericardial effusion and uremic colitis with mucosal slough. We did not observe these findings in the cases reported in a previous paper.6 Again, the oliguric and hyperkalemic phase was successfully treated with limited fluid intake and gastric lavage. Once the diuretic phase was established, the patient . . .Keywords
