Abstract
Attempts to explain the pathogenetic mechanism of the nephrotic edema are reviewed and discussed. The intraven. admn. of the polydis-persoid macromolecular polysaccharide dextran causes release of the edema in some cases. The suitability of using dextran for the study of the permeability of different body membranes under normal and abnormal conditions is pointed out. Keywords
