Vergleichende Stoffwechseluntersuchungen von Salicylsäure und Salicylsäurekonjugaten.

Abstract
The metabolism and resorption of salicylic acid and some of its conjugates given per os to rabbits were studied and compared. The absorption of the [beta]-glucuronide or glucoside conjugates of salicylic acid was less than that of the free salicylic acid. Since the gastrointestinal tract itself is able to form glucuronide conjugates from a great variety of biologically active substances, this protective detoxification function obviously contributes to the loss of active material even before reaching the circulation after oral administration.
