Abstract
ALTHOUGH many viruses have been isolated from the urine1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 during systemic viral illnesses there have been relatively few correlative cytologic investigations of the urinary sediment.6 , 12 , 13 The relation of urinary cells with intranuclear inclusion bodies and cytomegalic inclusion disease is well established.6 , 12 , 14 Recently, cytoplasmic inclusion bodies in urinary cells have been noted in association with various acute viral infections such as measles, rubella, mumps and chicken pox, as well as herpangina and aseptic meningitis.13 , 15 However, similar inclusion-bearing cells have been observed in children and adults, both healthy and with nonspecific pathologic processes.13 , 15 , 16 Binucleated epithelial cells in the urinary sediment have also . . .Keywords
