Abstract
The H 1 technology needle-punching process is a patented invention from Fehrer, AG. H 1 technology machinery is used to develop a set of polyester/cotton blended nonwoven substrates. A suitable protocol is developed to clean, process, and blend cotton with polyester fibers suitable for needle-punching on the needle-loom line. Results from the physical property measurements of the H 1 webs are reported in this paper. In addition, surface characteristics are studied using the sliding friction apparatus and scanning electron microscopy. Frictional properties are characterized by a newly derived simple friction factor. Keywords
